Real Meaning of the Word ‘Selfish’

So many of us have been told we are being selfish either by way of our own self talk or by others in our life. It doesn’t feel great either way.

The idea of being selfish came up in a group conversation I had recently; and when this definition of ‘selfish’ was shared it was a moment of, “Wow, I can’t unsee/unhear that now.” So often this word is used to guilt, shame, influence, and/or get us to change something we are wanting to do. Ponder this…does this definition of ‘selfish’ de-weaponize it for you? If so, what are some ways you can continue to lean into who you are, living your life in a way that. makes you shine and use your strengths, gifts, abilities, and being the person you came to earth to be in all your fullness?

What is your new perspective of being ‘selfish’ now? And what does that look like for you going forward?
